One More Win To Seal Title

The records keep refreshing.

The White Swans are on a 17 match consecutive win streak for this season after a 5-1 despatch of the Young Lions. Although Head Coach Yoshinaga is critical of the players’ performance, the fact is the White Swans only need to win at Toa Payoh Stadium this Sunday to seal the inaugural Singapore Premier League title.

Albirex started without Captain and playmaker Murofushi who was serving a one-match suspension after accumulating 4 yellow cards.

This could be the reason that the White Swans played without their usual fluency and fell behind to a highly rated Hami Syahin’s volley shot in the 33rd minute.

The goal woke up the White Swans and jolted them to reply twice in 5 minutes.

Left back Kenya Takahashi tried a speculative shot from distance and Young Lions GK Zharfan misjudged the flight to let Albirex back into the game. The shortest player on the pitch, Taku Morinaga at 1.53m, then ghosted in between 2 defenders to head in the ball at the 38th minute.

The White Swans scored 3 more goals in the 2nd half through Shuhei “Jumbo” Hoshino, Morinaga and Daiki Asaoka to give them a 5-1 comprehensive victory.

3 more points at Toa Payoh Stadium this Sunday against Balestier and the league title will come to Jurong East Stadium for a 3rd consecutive year.
