King Kyoga returned to the squad today against Young Lions with a bang. He had suffered a nasty head and neck injury last Sunday against Warriors FC. Kyoga stayed overnight in hospital for observation to his injuries and required 6 stitches to his forehead.

He ran onto the field today spotting a headgear, Petr Cech-like, for protection purposes.

Kyoga's impact on the team was uncomparable as he dictated play from midfield with such aplomb. In the 19th minute, his fierce shot just outside the penalty box took a wicked deflection and wrongfooted the Young Lion's goalkeeper. The White Swans took a one-nil lead into half time.

In the second half, the Young Lions were awarded a free kick at the 56th minute. Syahrul Sazali sent a beautiful curler into the top left hand corner, beyond the reaches of the White Swans keeper, Kengo Fukudome.

The White Swans were desperate for the 3 points as they were determined to catch Brunei DPMM FC at the top of the table. Hence, the pace of attack was quickened and 6 minutes later, the White Swans were awarded a freekick at the left side of the field.

Utility man, Hiroyoshi Kamata, who plays at the left back position today due to mounting injuries, delivered a free kick to striker Yoshikatsu Hiraga who flicked his header into the net. 1-2, the White Swans regained the lead.

The Young Lions pushed hard for an equaliser but were let down by indiscipline. 2 players were sent off in the 86th and 93rd minute for rash tackle.

The White Swans held on to the lead and clinches the precious 3 points.

Further good news came from our home ground, Jurong East Stadium, when our co-sharer of the ground, Warriors FC fought back from 1-3 down to hold Brunei DPMM FC to a 3-3 draw.

The gap between Brunei DPMM FC and Albirex is now one point with 10 matches left. It is all to play for in the league title.
