Football Development

Since our club joined the Singapore Premier League (formerly S-League) in 2004, our mission has been to develop young Japanese players. However, in 2018, we acquired our first Singaporean player with the permission of the league, and since then, we have added 'developing young Singaporean players' to our mission.

We have established a foundation for the development of young Singaporean players by launching the COE U-15 in 2019, followed by the Albirex Singapore Football Academy for elementary and junior high school students, and the COE U-21, which is one category below the top team.

In 2022, we also established a women's team and expanded our development to include female players, while concluding a partnership with K.M.S.K. DEINZE of Belgium's second division. The partnership with K.M.S.K. DEINZE created the opportunity for young players to move to Europe and improve the environment for their development. The first player to join K.M.S.K. DEINZE was Ilhan Fandi.

In May 2023, the Club signed a partnership agreement with SOCCER SERVICES BARCELONA, S.L. (headquartered in Spain) to establish a Methodology Department within the Club, the first of its kind in Singapore. The Methodology Department will be headed by a director, Mr.Marçal. Under his guidance, he will spearhead the Ekkono Method, a top player development program, to raise the level and value of the club's football program.

The Club will continue to focus on the development of Singaporean players and build "Albirex Niigata Football Singapore", a fusion of Japanese and Singaporean players.

The Ekkono Method is a program offered by Barcelona Soccer Services for the "development of top world-class players. The Ekkono Method has been used by top European clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and other top players to provide them with guidance and advice.
The goal of the program is to develop smart players with good judgment and imagination, and by using the four elements that make up the Ekkono Method (games, concepts, cognition, and questioning), the program develops intelligent players who can adapt and respond appropriately to a variety of situations. In addition to direct coaching, he also provides consulting services to coaches and team staff to help them build identity and value throughout the club.
