【Match Report】SPL 8th Leg “White Swans Fight on to Return to the Top”



 
The White Swans return to the top of the table on a better goal difference than Tampines Rovers, by beating Geylang International 1 nil at Our Tampines Hub this evening.
 
Striker Tomoyuki Doi gave the White Swans an early lead as he curled in a sumptuous free kick in the 2nd minute. Thereafter, the White Swans held on dearly to the slim lead for the rest of the game to gain the precious 3 points.
 

 
Goalkeeper Kei Okawa put in a man of the match performance as he made saves after saves in Geylang’s waves of attack. He was also commanding in his box during the dangerous free kicks and corners as Geylang threw all their big men up front to get the elusive equaliser.
 

 
Head Coach Shigetomi expressed satisfaction with the 3 points and praised the team’s battling performance against a physical team in a difficult away ground.
 

 
The White Swans lead the table with 17 points with 5 wins, 2 draws, a loss and a better goal difference of +12 compared to Tampines goal difference of 9 with identical records.
 
The next game for the White Swans would be at Jurong East Stadium on 17 Nov 2020 (Tuesday) against Balestier Khalsa. Kick off is at 7.45pm.
