【Match Report】SPL 12th Leg "White Swans Suffer Setback in Crunch Match"
In a crunch match for the title challenge, top-placed White Swans and second-placed Tampines Rovers faced off at Jurong East Stadium this evening.
The White Swans dominated the first half and took the lead when striker Tomoyuki Doi pounced on Tampines' Centreback Baihakki Khaizan's mistake and put the White Swans 1 nil up at half time. The White Swans could have scored more goals but were wasteful in front of the goal.
The 2nd half was a complete reverse of the first half. Tampines scored 3 goals within the first 15 minutes in the second half to take a commanding 3-1 lead. With the White Swans chasing the game, substitute Tampines striker Taufiq Suparno pounced on a mistake and put the game beyond doubt at 4-1 in the closing minutes.
Tampines overtook the White Swans at the top of the table with 2 games to go, and a 1-point lead. Tampines will face Lion City Sailors next this Wednesday while the White Swans will have a Jurong East Derby with Tanjong Pagar. Kickoff is at 7.45pm.
