[Match Report] 2-1 victory in top clash, three big points at home

In Matchweek 18 of the Singapore Premier League, Albirex Niigata FC (S) hosted BG Tampines Rovers FC, currently in 2nd place in the league, at Jurong East Stadium.
With ACL qualification on the line, this was a crucial match that Albirex could not afford to lose.
The match began with Albirex dominating possession and controlling the tempo.
In the 10th minute, Yang Hyeonju broke down the left flank and delivered a cross, which was met by Rasaq with a header, but his effort narrowly missed the target.
Both sides continued to search for opportunities, but neither team was able to create a clear-cut chance.
In the 44th minute, Cho Eunsu delivered a precise cross from the left, and Shingo Nakano connected with a well-placed header to give Albirex a long-awaited opening goal.

However, just before halftime in stoppage time (45+2), the visitors broke through the middle, and their shot took a deflection off a defender, changing direction and resulting in an equaliser. The first half ended 1-1.
Albirex started the second half brightly with strong attacking play.
In the 48th minute, a combination play between Katsuyuki Ishibashi and Shingo Nakano near the penalty area led to a shot, but it was denied by the opposing goalkeeper.
In the 62nd minute, Yang Hyeonju once again made a run down the left and delivered a sharp low cross, which Rasaq calmly converted to restore Albirex’s lead.
After the 70th minute, Albirex came under pressure as the opponents pushed forward, but the defensive line remained composed and showed great resilience to hold firm.

In the 80th minute, Albirex faced a dangerous situation from the right side attack, but goalkeeper Hassan Sunny produced a crucial save to keep the team ahead.
Albirex maintained their defensive intensity until the final whistle, successfully protecting their lead to secure a 2-1 victory. It was a valuable win at home against the second-placed side, earning three important points.
