Albirex Niigata FC(S) held the quarter-final match of the League Cup against Geylang United FC on 24th July 2011 at Jurong East Stadium. Despite suffering first goal, Albirex equalized with Hotta's revitalizing header in the last minute of regular time. Then, in the extra time, Albirex got 2 goals and won the right to proceed to the semi-final.
